Espoleados por la contribución de nuestro amigo JA, que
reproducimos más abajo, y con el objetivo de reforzar nuestras reivindicaciones,
AVITE convoca su primer "Concurso de dibujo humorístico", cuyas bases se
exponen a continuación:
1º - La temática de los trabajos estará relacionada con las minusvalías físicas.
2º - Los trabajos pueden ser chistes de viñeta única, historietas o tiras, animadas
o no.
3º - La entrega se realizará en formato digital, JPEG o GIF para dibujos y GIF
animado o Flash para animaciones, dirigiéndolos al correo de nuestra asociación: info@avite.org y poniendo en el asunto del mensaje
"avitepilloavitemato".
4º - Se establece un primer premio, consistente en una pierna ortopédica (de las que
el Ministerio de Sanidad no nos da) de titanio, fibra de carbono y con freno automático
incluido (sin calcetines ni juanetes), valorada en más de un millón de las antiguas
pesetas, usada, firmada y dedicada por la directiva de esta asociación como
representantes de todos los afectados. Así mismo se otorgarán dos segundos premios
consistentes cada uno de ellos en un rotring (de los buenos) con una inscripción
conmemorativa del evento.
5º - La recepción de trabajos se cerrará la Nit de San Joan del año 2006, a las 12
de la noche, cuando empiece la quema de hogueras, y la decisión sobre los trabajos
premiados será adoptada por consenso de la directiva de esta asociación, sin notario de
ninguna clase, y se hará pública el 30 de junio del año 2006 en esta misma web.
6º - AVITE se reserva el derecho de publicar todos los trabajos enviados en su
sección de HUMOR, sin pagar un duro y sin derecho a reclamación.
7º - La entrega de los premios no se realizará en ningún acto público, en un
máximo de diez días después de declararlos, os mandamos el paquete a vuestra casa, por
correo o por agencia y sanseacabó (eso si, a portes pagados).
Pues nada, a animarse que es para una buena causa. En esta web podréis conseguir
información para inspiraros, que hay mucha donde rascar.
Lógicamente seremos sensibles a aquellos trabajos que sean directamente alusivos a la
talidomida, pero esto no será decisivo para establecer cuáles nos han gustado más.

No he podido resistir la tentación de hacer partícipes a los lectores de VA de alguna
de las imágenes de mi viaje por Laos y Tailandia.
En el número 70, correspondiente a noviembre de 2005, en el artículo de Sigfrido del
Alce titulado "En la Universidad de Alcalá no pasa nada... y si pasa se le
saluda", se comentaba la posible existencia de una cooperativa de viviendas de la
Universidad de Alcalá, al amparo del ayuntamiento de Meco, ubicada en medio de la ZEPA de
avutardas.
Puesto que en nuestra redacción no existía documentación al respecto, se pedía a
los lectores ampliación de la noticia. Pues bien, una lectora nos ha enviado tres
documentos al respecto, que se pueden consultar pulsando los enlaces de la tabla
siguiente, y que contienen la siguiente información

Agradecemos a nuestros lectores el interés mostrado en el tema y esperamos que no se
hagan daños irreparables al medio ambiente. Sería gracioso que la R2, a su paso por Meco
y Azuqueca, hubiera desviado el trazado para evitar la ZEPA y una cooperativa de la
Universidad de Alcalá ubicara viviendas en la zona reservada.
Los próximos días 5 al 7 de abril de 2006 tendrá lugar el III Curso de Iniciación a
la Investigación del Instituto de Estructura de la Materia, en el Consejo Superior de
Investigaciones Científicas, en Madrid. En este curso, un importante número de
investigadores del Instituto impartirán charlas relacionadas con sus líneas de
investigación. Esta labor de difusión está principalmente dirigida a estudiantes de los
dos últimos cursos de licenciaturas en Ciencias, con un buen expediente académico que
los avale como potenciales estudiantes de doctorado en un futuro cercano, y abarca un
amplio espectro de temas científicos encuadrados en los siguientes campos:
* Astrofísica Molecular e Infrarroja.
* Espectroscopía Vibracional y Procesos Multifotónicos.
* Física Macromolecular.
* Física Molecular. *
Física Nuclear y Física Estadística.
* Física Teórica.
La fecha límite para el envío de solicitudes es el 24 de febrero de 2006.
Para alumnos que residan fuera de Madrid existe la posibilidad de obtener una ayuda de
transporte y alojamiento, que esencialmente cubre los gastos de viaje.

PhD candidate position:
Neutrino-Astronomy with IceCube at the South Pole

The astroparticle group of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (Germany)
announces the opening of a PhD candidate position (salary according to 50% of BAT
IIa) on the IceCube experiment available immediately. The initial appointment will
be for 3 years.
The IceCube experiment is a gigaton neutrino detector currently under
construction at the geographic South Pole. It succeeds and extends the already operational
AMANDA neutrino telescope. The group has hardware responsibilities in the AMANDA
integration in IceCube and is strongly involved in the data analysis. Future engagements
will encompass radio and acoustic neutrino detection. Further major activities of the
group are within the Pierre Auger project in Argentina. The group provides
excellent infrastructure including access to the high-performance computer ALiCEnext.
Applicants must have a degree in physics or in a neighboring discipline of
natural sciences. The successful candidate preferably has experimental experience in
astroparticle physics; we also welcome applications of experimental particle and nuclear
physicists.

Am Fachbereich C der Bergischen Universität ist eine Doktorandenstelle
(50% BAT IIa) zur Mitarbeit im IceCube Experiment zum nächst möglichen Zeitpunkt zu
besetzen. Die Anstellung ist zunächst befristet für 3 Jahre. Voraussetzung zur
Einstellung ist eine überdurchschnittliche Promotion zum Zeitpunkt der Einstellung.
Das IceCube Experiment ist ein gigatonnen Detektor zur Astronomie mit
Neutrinos und befindet sich zur Zeit im Aufbau am geographischen Südpol. IceCube ist der
Nachfolger und die Erweiterung des bereits in Betrieb befindlichen Amanda
Neutrinoteleskops. Die Wuppertaler Arbeitsgruppe ist mit Hardwarebeiträgen am Aufbau des
Experiments beteiligt und leistet zentrale Beiträge zur Datenanalyse. Zukünftige
Aktivitäten werden den Nachweis von Neutrinos mit alternativen Methoden wie Radiowellen
und Schall umfassen. Neben dem IceCube Experiment beteiligt sich die Gruppe insbesondere
auch am Aufbau des Pierre Auger Experiments in Argentinien. Die Gruppe verfügt über eine
sehr gute infrastrukturelle Ausstattung und ist ein Hauptnutzer des Wuppertaler
Großrechners ALiCEnext.

The Centre de Physique des Particules de Marseille (CPPM) invites
applications for two post-doctoral research positions in neutrino astroparticle physics.
The successful candidates are expected to play a leading role in the design, optimization,
and simulation of the physics performance of a next generation km3-scale
undersea neutrino telescope located in the Mediterranean Sea. Both posts are funded by
KM3NeT (http://km3net.org), a
three-year design study supported by the research infrastructure portion of the 6t º
framework program of the European Community.
The CPPM, located in the south of France, is an international research
laboratory supported by the French CNRS/IN2P3 and the Université de la Mediterranée
(Aix-Marseille II). The CPPM has major responsibilities in a number of particle and
astroparticle experiments (ANTARES, ATLAS, D0, H1, LHCb, SLNS/SNAP). In particular, the
CPPM is the host laboratory for the ANTARES experiment (http://antares.in2p3.fr), a first generation undersea neutrino
telescope currently under construction at a depth of 2475m off the Toulon coast. The data
of ANTARES will be used to validate the KM3NET physics studies and detector optimization.
The positions are available from the 1st of April 2006 and are
open to applicants of any nationality. They are initially for a period of one year, with
the possibility of extension by an additional two years. Letters of application, including
