Apréndelo fácilmente... y observa que, contra los que dicen que en inglés las frases son más cortas, no siempre es así. Para ello te hemos seleccionado de nuevo una serie de frases comunes en español.

No hay más cera que la que arde: There is no more wax than that which is burning.

Ser más lento que el caballo del malo: To be slower than the bad one’s horse.

Pintar menos que Maximiliano en ¿Hares?: To paint less than Maximiliano in ¿Hares?

Ser una mujer de rompe y rasga: To be a woman of break and tear up.

Ser una mujer de armas tomar: To be a woman of take arms.

Donde las dan, las toman: Where they give them, they take them.

Ser alguien un cero a la izquierda: To be somebody a zero on the left.

Darle a alguien el café: To give somebody the coffee.

Ser más pesado que una vaca en brazos: To be heavier than a cow in your arms.

Te estuve esperando como agua de mayo: I was waiting for you like May’s water.

Ir dando tumbos: To go giving tumbles.

No me vengas con esas: Don’t come to me with those ones.

¡Madre mía! ¡Cómo está la niña!: My mother! How is the girl!

Consejos vendo y para mí no tengo: Advice I sell and for me I don’t have.

Hacer un pan como unas tortas: To make a bread like a tarts.

Ser algo pan comido: To be something eaten bread.

Estar a verlas venir: To be at see them arrive.

No me des el rollo: Don’t give me the roll.

Mi gozo en un pozo: My joy in a well.

No es santo de mi devoción: He’s not a saint of my devotion.

Tener la cabeza llena de pájaros: To have the head full of birds.

Ir el cántaro a la fuente: To go the pitcher to the fountain.

Tomar las de Villadiego: To take those of Villadiego.

Tomarla con alguien: To take it with somebody.

Tómate esa (y vuelve por otra): Take that one (and come back for another one).

Tener piquito de oro: To have a little beak of gold.

Tener más razón que un santo: To have more reason than a saint.

Ni corto ni perezoso: Nor short nor lazy.

No hay huevos: There are no eggs.

¡Manda huevos!: Send eggs!

Correr como alma que lleva el diablo: To run like a soul the devil takes.

Me lo dijo Pérez, que estuvo en Mallorca: Pérez, who was in Mallorca, told me.

Tú tienes mucho peligro: You have a lot of danger.

Tener más peligro que una caja de bombas: To have more danger than a box of bombs.

Te veo muy bien: I see you very well.

Me traes por la calle de la amargura: You bring me down the street of bitterness.

Me estresas: You stress me.

Me cargas: You load me.

¡Qué cargante eres! How loader you are!

Poner alguien los pies en polvorosa: To put somebody their feet in dustyland.

Dios los cría y ellos se juntan: God brings them up and they get together.

Dársela a alguien con queso: To give it to somebody with cheese.

A mí nadie me hace sombra: Nobody makes shadow to me.

¡Vete a hacer gárgaras! Go to do gargles!

Eres un tostón: You are a big toaster.

Yo tiro por aquí: I throw this way.

Un escándalo de padre y muy señor mío: A scandal of father and very sir mine.

¡Échale guindas al pavo! Throw cherries to the turkey!

Sirve igual para un roto que para un descosido: It is as good for a broken as for an unsewn.

No tener alguien donde caerse muerto: Not to have someone where to fall dead.

No te digo ni que sí ni que no, sino todo lo contrario: I am not saying you nor yes nor not, but all the contrary.

Ser más papista que el Papa: To be more papist than the Pope.

Ir pisando huevos: To go stepping into eggs.

Ser una mujer rabiosamente guapa: To be a woman angerly beautiful.

Me tienes frito: You have me fried.

No tengas tanta prisa: Don’t have so much hurry.

Me quedé a dos velas: I was left at two candles.

Tirarle a alguien los tejos: To throw somebody the tiles.

Mari, ¡tú sí que chanas!: Mary, you yes that chane!
